The Trimontium Walk

Eildon Hills, Melrose

Although by far the best way to do the walk is as a member of one of the groups which go out on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during the summer season, with a very knowledgeable guide, not everyone can get to Melrose, or is fit enough to actually carry out the walk. So, for these people, this virtual walk will try to give some idea of the walk, without, of course, the atmosphere.

The Trimontium Exhibition, Ormiston Institute

The Trimontium Walk is one of the activities of the 400 strong Trust and its sister Trust which runs an Exhibition in Melrose each year from April to October, seven days per week, promoting interest and enjoyment in and around a magnificent site.
Annual membership costs 5 (Trooper) or 10 (Centurion) - or more if you wish to rise higher.
Perks include free access to the Exhibition and Walk; annual Newsletter - the Trumpet; six Celebrity Lectures per year; annual outing; a Young Archaeologists Club; and one annual 'event'.
Members are 'outposted' to an appropriate site - and title - near their home.
Enquiries are welcomed at:
The Office of the Imperial Legate, c/o Cockleroi, Newstead, Melrose TD6 9DE. (Tel 01896 822651) or e-mail: [email protected]

The Board of the Trust, formed in 1988, consists of the two major landowners of the complex, together with members of the public, representatives of local bodies and experts in the field.
Both trusts are registered as Charities in Scotland; Trimontium Trust SCO 16646 and Trimontium Museum Trust SCO 23705.
