Eildon Hills Walk
After passing under the bypass, you will come to a junction at which you turn left to follow the track round to the west of Newstead village, before turning left and crossing into Dean Road heading towards the stables. A gate takes you onto a path between the stables and the row of houses. This path leads you along the embankment into the Priorswalk housing estate, past a row of garages and the houses of Priordene.
On this section you get fine views of the Tweed, on your right, as you walk along.
At the electricity sub-station bear right, following the path over the footbridge into the park next to the Abbey. The view of the Abbey from the park is particularly fine.
The path, alongside the railings around the Abbey, leads you out by the side of Priorwood Garden and shop, and opposite the car park next to the TIC.
There are a large number of places available for you to refresh yourself, or in which to browse and buy, before you head off, having had, we hope, a pleasant day out in the beautiful Border country.
Haste ye Back!
